EUREGIO III

The EUREGIO III project supported an innovative approach to the use of Structural Funds for health in the cycle 2014-2020.

The objective of the project was to assist Member States to develop evidence-based action plans for reducing health inequalities among EU regions by improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of direct health system investments.

By targeting policy-makers and practitioners who make and shape policies and implement actions, the project attempted both to explore potential action areas and to make the case (including economic evidence) for investments.

Intensive, targeted dissemination activities and an accessible and interactive website and online know-how database helped EU regions to uptake the project’s results. Overall, the intent was to make information available to regions, their health systems, local authorities, and other actors who potentially apply for and implement Structural Funds.

The EUREGIO III project took off in 2009 and ended in 2011.
