SUMMARY:Quality and Safety Network webinar – Critical Incident Reporting Systems in Germany
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nOn 18 October 2022\, HOPE and PAQS organised the 13th Quality and Safety Network webinar whose purpose was to describe the Critical Incident Reporting Systems in Germany A legal framework enables cross-facility critical incidents reporting and data has been collected to evaluate how these systems increase joint learning from experiences and errors and thus improve patient safety. \nIn Germany\, hospital risk management is organised around cross-institutional Critical Incident Reporting Systems that are structured around a legal framework. The LüFMS-Project that was launched evaluates to what extent the determination of requirements for cross-facility critical incidents reporting systems in Germany has been implemented and based on this\, develop a recommendation for the further optimisation of those systems in order to increase joint learning from experiences and errors and thus improve patient safety. \nOne of these systems is the Krankenhaus-CIRS-Netz Deutschland 2.0 (KH-CIRS-Netz-D 2.0) hospital CIRS network Germany 2.0 (KH-CIRS-Netz-D 2.0). A reporting system for safety-related events/critical incidents in hospitals\, which is used for national\, interprofessional and interdisciplinary learning. It was illustrated how the online platform works\, what can be reported\, who is this system aimed at\, how the reporting process works\, how the reports are elaborated and supplied with an expert`s comment and how hospitals can learn from the cases in the system. \n  \nThe objectives of the webinar were to:\n– Present the legal framework for cross-facility critical incidents reporting\n– Discuss the results of the LüFMS-Project that evaluated the system used\n– Illustrate an example of a Critical Incident Reporting System: KH-CIRS-Netz Deutschland \n  \nSpeakers:\n– Dr. Doris Voit\, MBA\, Policy officer\, German Hospital Federation\n– Dagmar Lüttel\, Project lead – LüFMS Innnovation project\, German Coalition for Patient Safety \n  \nWatch the full video recording \nSpeakers’ presentations are available at the bottom of this page \n
